What is it that I DO?

I have been asked this question many, many times, so I have decided to write a few words about it.

So Peppe, what is it that you teach? Is it Yoga? Is it Pilates? Is it weight training? Is it handstands? Is it animal flow? What is it?

The answer is all of them but none.

What? Peppe are you saying you consider yourself a jack of all trades?

No. Quite the opposite.

I firmly believe that pursuing the "Jack of all trades status" brings very little knowledge and competence, plus the subjects are so varied that it would take one a few lifetimes to develop enough competence and use that knowledge to do something helpful. As the Russian proverb says: if you chase 2 rabbits, you won't catch either one!

Peppe, I am really confused now? Would you further explain?

Well, you see all those categories mentioned above (Pilates, weights and so on) are all little tiny disciplines contained in the big world of Movement.

The image below will clarify things further:

Movement is what I am about. Improving the way you move is my Job, but luckily it is my passion as well!

I went to university and gained a better understanding of Anatomy, Biochemistry and Exercise Physiology,

I studied "Pilates".

I studied the science of Strength and Conditioning,

I learned about movement from world class teachers :

I studied "breathing" and its powerful influence on the body:

The list goes on, but the point is - I don't believe in the "best method" or "the best sport" or the "best practice" or "the best fitness protocol".

I can't close myself in the little box of Yoga and stick to teaching that for the rest of my days.

Movement is not just Pilates, it is not just Dance, movement is bigger than those individual disciplines, and for this reason I make sure I take the time to constantly upgrade my knowledge, learning from the best, studying something new and applying it first to my practice and eventually to my students'.

One method at a time becomes many methods OVERTIME. They accumulate and they somehow become a constantly upgrading unique Methodology - this is what I call Movement Education.

My teaching is firstly focused on building and restoring joint health. Sufficient joint mobility and articulation is the pre-requisite of every activity or movement you want to take part in or learn.

Being able to do a full resting squat for example requires your ankles, knees, hips, and spine to synergycally assemble in a way that allows you to get in that position. If you get stuck and aren't able to perform the movement we'll have to restore your natural range of motion - targeting each individual joint - in order to allow you to move the way you WANT TO.

Once your joints are healthy and articulate correctly it's time to get strong. A foundation of upper body, lower body and core strength are the second step.

Once you are strong - IT'S TIME TO MOVE! Explore the possibilities of your amazing body, move in complex ways, learn to jump, stand on your hands, pull up your bodyweight towards a bar and discover new ways of using that body of yours. I cover this last step in my workshops and movement classes.

In the last 3 years I have been living in Dublin, Ireland, building my business and working with a variety of age groups.

I am currently teaching young athletes, college athletes and normal people aging from 20 to 80 years of age. I am also looking to expand and eventually open my own training centre.

I teach privately (1on1s) and have regular weekly group classes.

I also offer online coaching for those who live too far or can't see me in person.

You can find all the info about my services by clicking on the link below:

I hope you found all the answers you were looking for and I look forward to meeting you in person and hopefully starting "to move" together!

Thank you!

Peppe.
